Highlights of Bali For Your Trip

The vibe of Bali can be felt as soon as one steps foot here. Here, relaxed island living collides with vibrant cultural heritage, and daily life feels more like a stunning mix of adventure and tranquillity. Whether you're drinking coconut water on a beach awash in sunshine or strolling through Ubud's rice terraces, Bali takes it easy in its enchanted way.

There's an unmistakable spiritual presence in the atmosphere, temples shrouded in incense vapour, locals making daily canang sari (flower offerings), and traditional dance routines under starlight. Meanwhile, Bali bursts with energy and colour. Surfers descend upon Uluwatu, digital nomads vibe in Canggu coffee shops, and newlyweds immerse themselves in the romance of Seminyak sunsets.

The island's charm is its contradictions: chaos and serenity, holy and frivolous, old and new. You may climb Mount Batur at dawn, swim in turquoise waters at noon, and cap off your evening with a seaside massage and seafood dinner.

Bali isn't a place, it's a feeling. It draws you in and says, "Slow down, connect, and truly live." Whether you're seeking adventure or quiet, Bali's atmosphere welcomes you home, but also far enough away from everything.

Journey routers offer year-round Bali tour packages, as you can visit here anytime due to its tropical climate. From sunlit beach days between April to October (dry season) to lush, green rice paddies and fewer crowds from November to March (wet season), there’s never a wrong time to explore Bali.

The Complete Guide For Indians Applying For a Bali Visa In 2025

1. Visa: When booking a Bali tour package from India, applying for a visa beforehand is wise. You can either apply for an e-visa before travel or obtain your visa on arrival (VOA).

2 . E-visa: You must complete an application on the official website of the Indonesian immigration. Along with the application form, submit the documents required and the processing fee (around INR 2,500 per individual). After approval, you will receive your e-visa in your email, which you may print and use at the Bali airport. The visa processing time is on average 2-3 days and is valid for a period of up to 90 days.

3. Visa on Arrival (VOA): You can go straight to the visa counter at the airport and submit your documents. The procedure is usually queuing at the visa counter, filling out required forms, and paying the fee (about INR 2,500 per person). Processing time may vary, but it usually takes between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on airport traffic.

Documents Required For Bali Visa:

  • Passport
  • Visa application form
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Return flight tickets
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Sufficient funds
  • Health insurance
  • Travel itinerary

Make sure to plan and choose the visa option that best suits your travel needs for a hassle-free Bali trip!

International Driving Permit:

If you prefer to plan a Bali trip independently or like to drive for hours along scenic roads, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is a must. One of the most hassle-free ways to travel is by renting a bike or a car, and with an IDP, you can drive legally with no problems.

In India, an IDP can be obtained through the Regional Transport Office (RTO), Parivahan Portal or Automobile Association of India. The process is to fill out a form, provide documents and pay a fee.

You will require a valid Indian driving license, an Adhaar Card and passport-sized photos to apply for an IDP. The IDP is valid for one year and takes a few days to process.

Important Tips that You Need to Know Before Your Bali Trip

  • It is advisable to convert INR to IDR as a convenience at airports or designated money exchangers, as payments by card or online methods may not be acceptable in all shops.
  • Grab a local SIM card with data from the airport or convenience stores so you can navigate and communicate with ease throughout your Bali trip.
  • Haggling is treated as the norm at local markets in Bali, so always bargain politely for the best deals on your souvenirs.
  • Dress modestly when visiting temples: ensure shoulders and knees are covered, or barter for a sarong to wear.
  • Avoid tap water and stick to bottled or filtered water to keep an upset stomach at bay.
  • Beware of strangers being over-friendly just so they can lure you into a suspicious deal, and make sure you always book your activities with a reputable source.
  • Carry sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat as the sun in Bali is quite aggressive, particularly at the beaches and on treks.
  • Most temples charge an entrance fee; have small change ready and check opening hours ahead of your visit.
  • Some beaches have perilous currents; always heed the safety flags when going into the water.
  • Reduce plastic waste and bring a reusable water bottle; after all, Bali is trying really hard to keep itself clean.
  • Remember that wearing a helmet on a two-wheeler is not only for your safety, but will also keep you out of trouble.

What to Pack For a Bali Trip?

  • Packing for your Bali tour is all about keeping it light, functional, and tropical-friendly. Given the island’s warm and humid climate year-round, breathable clothing is key. Pack light cotton or linen outfits, swimsuits, cover-ups, and a few evening-wear options for beach clubs or dinners in Seminyak and Uluwatu.
  • For daytime adventures, don’t forget comfortable walking shoes or sandals especially if you're planning to explore rice terraces, temples, or go on a Mount Batur sunrise trek. Flip-flops are perfect for beach days, while a light jacket or shawl can come in handy during cool evenings or temple visits (where modest dress is required).
  • Other essentials include a wide-brim hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen, and insect repellent especially if you're venturing into jungle areas or waterfalls. A dry bag or waterproof pouch is also a smart addition for water-based activities like snorkelling, diving, or boating.
  • Bring a reusable water bottle (Bali promotes sustainability), and don’t forget adapters for charging your devices (Bali uses Type C and F plugs).
  • Health-wise, pack basic medications and motion sickness pills if you plan to travel by boat to nearby islands.
  • Lastly, a good-quality camera or smartphone with storage space is a must you’ll want to capture Bali’s stunning landscapes, sunsets, and vibrant culture.
Whether you're going for luxury relaxation or adventure-filled exploration, packing smart ensures your Bali tour stays carefree, comfortable, and unforgettable.

Currency of Bali

Indonesian currency is officially called the Rupiah, with the ISO 4217 code IDR for reference purposes. IDR in Indonesian means Perak in the informal sense. This term is commonly applied to the coin usage of the Rupiah. Conversely, the symbol for Rupiah is `Rp`. On exchange rate calculations, 1 INR equals 195.00720 IDR, which means a Bali trip can be done within the amount you’d spend on India tours. Many Indian tour packages would cost more!

Plan your Bali escape with Journey Routers! Change the IDR into INR with ease for our Bali holiday packages. Travel through Indonesia without a hitch with our currency converter. Book now and set forth on your dream vacation!
